Ramaiya
Vastavaiya is an Bollywood romance comedy film directed by Prabhu Deva. The
film introduces producer Kumar Taurani's son Girish Kumar, opposite Shruti
Haasan. It will be a remake of Prabhu Deva's directorial debut Telugu
blockbuster Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana which in turn was inspired by the 1980s
Hindi cult movie Maine Pyaar Kiya apparently. The theatrical trailer of Ramaiya
Vastavaiya was uploaded on 25 April 2013 and is expected to release on 19 July
2013.
The film's
plot is loosely based on 1998 Salman Khan-Kajor starrer Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya
(1998 film), which actually inspired Prabhu Deva's directorial debut Telugu
blockbuster Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana. The film is a remake of the Tamil film
Something Something... Unakkum Enakkum
Ram (Girish
Kumar) is the only child of Australia-based billionaire couple Siddharth
(Randhir Kapoor) and Ashvini (Poonam Dhillon). On the other hand, Sona (Shruti
Haasan) is a lovely girl from a small village of Punjab, who is apple of her
brother's eye, Raghu (Sonu Sood). He leaves no stone unturned to give Sona a
good life. They are not very rich, but their love for each other is
indispensable. Ram meets Sona at the wedding of his cousin Riya, who is also a
good friend of Sona. Ram, the habitual flirt, gets drawn with simplicity of
Sona. Young love blossoms – pure and magical. But all is not going to be well
in this love story after all. Raghu dislikes the rich, and Ashvini is against
the poor apparently. In the midst of all this, Ram will have to face challenges
and Sona will have to witness his hardship. Will Ram and Sona overcome all odds
and live happily ever after? Or will there be a change of twist?
